I collect autographs so that I can have something that's at least a little bit unique to remind me of a player I saw, or a player who played for my favorite team.

I will buy and trade for autographs, and I collect autographs through the mail. However, the ones that create the strongest memories for me are the ones I get in person.

One of my favorite memories from this season was getting to meet one-time Mets prospect Alay Soler at a Long Island Ducks game and getting him to sign a baseball card for my collection. Sure, Soler only had one good game in the majors -- a one-hitter against the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006 -- but I watched it and I was happy to get to meet Soler and tell him how much I enjoyed watching him pitch that night. The autographed card might be worth a dollar or two to another Mets fan, but I don't really care because I have no plans to sell it.

Interesting stuff to be sure.

The connection I had in mind is the rumors swirling about that a "Welcome Back Kotter" movie is in the works... and this time the Sweathogs have moved to Los Angeles. How's that for art imitating life?

Once again, there appears to be no joy in Brooklyn.

Although Lasorda has made numerous guest appearances on a number television hits such as CHiPs, Fantasy Island and Hee Haw (not to mention countless Slim Fast commercials), I do not believe he was ever credited as a guest star on Welcome Back Kotter.

Until you can confirm what episodes he appeared in, I'm afraid that must be discounted as faulty internet information.

That said.... you are VERY close! Closer, in fact, than a rubber hose!

well let's see... both originated in Brooklyn, but that would be too easy.

How about Freddie Washington wearing a Dodgers jacket and playing baseball everywhere he went on the show?
Tommy Lasorda teaching the sweathogs in history class?

There was lots of Dodger connections....

We would have LOVED to have seen him. With all the traveling we've had to do, especially the Denver trips, driving up to Albuquerque and back with the kids became too difficult logistically. We can't believe the season's over. And we missed getting Paul's autograph! :-/

However, everything you've posted has been so much fun to see, especially the pretty autos, and we will always appreciate how much you added to this baseball season for us. Soon, normalcy will return around here--and now our older daughter is hooked on the 'Topes.

Yeah, Paul was only in town for a few games. He was SUPER friendly though, and signed autographs for everyone who waited outside the clubhouse after the games... even though there must have been 75 or more people who wanted his signature.

When I saw Paul LoDuca on the local news, I knew you would be on the case. He was only here for about ten seconds, right? Really nice autos.
